3 Amazing Ways To Minimize Anxiety

When I develop anxiety (which I don’t really claim or speak into existence, but for the purpose of this post I am speaking in present tense) I had no idea what it was. I thought I had something physically wrong with me. The truth is I have been headed down the road towards anxiety all my life. I was always a worry wart that tried to control all future results and hung onto past failures and disappointments. I was asking for some type of psychological issue with this type of mindset.

There are different levels that I would go through before I reached a full blown attack. Self-awareness is critical because you need to know your triggers. This is why these concepts have been so helpful to me, they make me more aware of my thoughts, feelings and behaviors so that I can minimize the tension I feel and avoid further symptoms or anxiety.  Here are the top three things that I have learned to minimize the effects of anxiety.

Why You Need To Release the Mental Weight In Order To Release The Physical Weight

I am on a never-ending journey of self-reflection, self-correction, trust and forgiveness. There was a time when my therapist asked me if I felt like I ever needed forgiveness and guess what I said…NO! Can you believe that? Well, neither could she and her facial expression when I answered the question made me go deep with myself and examine where my answer came from. The result of my analysis was that my answer came from a superficial level of thinking that since I never intentionally wronged anyone, I didn’t need to be forgiven for anything which isn’t entirely true. Just because I didn’t perceive my words or actions to be hurtful or rude didn’t mean that they weren’t and might have warranted forgiveness of me.

3 Keys To Boosting Your Self-Worth

Self-worth, what is it really? Many of us don’t realize that we often don’t feel worthy of the things we desire. Seems crazy to think that way, but it’s true. I didn’t realize I had self-worth issues until I started planning bigger goals and dreams for my life and the little voice inside would say,

·      “that’s can’t happen to you”

·      “those types of things don’t happen to people like you”

·      “what makes you qualified to receive that”

There are three components of self-worth, they are:

·      self-respect

·      self-love

·      self-trust

Real Talk

Real Talk

Holding multiple titles in life is exhausting. I am a wife, mother, business owner and nurse. Within these titles are many subtitles that left me feeling like I didn’t have any more to give to anything or anyone at times. I was looking for balance and eventually realized that what I was searching for was harmony. All my duties and responsibilities have different weights at different times. Sometimes, I spend more time with my family than business and vice versa. It drove me crazy that I couldn’t strike that balance and the outcome was me not being fully present in anything that I was doing because I was always thinking about being or doing something else.

A Season Of Forgiveness

What Is Forgiveness

What does forgiveness mean to you? Forgiveness is not condoning or excusing the behavior of yourself or others. It is not justifying or glossing over unwanted actions. Forgiveness is consciously deciding to stop harboring negative thoughts and feeling on purpose and to leave them where they are with no further attachment to the thoughts, feelings and behaviors that they have created.

Forgiveness was a tough concept for me to understand because I never understood how it would work for me. I couldn’t grasp that by forgiving someone or myself I was deciding to let go and free myself of the burden created by that situation. I didn’t understand that I was not over an issue just because I said “forget this, I’m done”.
