How To Stay On Track With Your Healthy Lifestyle

Get On Track

I actually began my journey to living a healthy lifestyle YEARS ago. I was so pumped and ready to lose weight, get fit and feel energized. When my mother got sick with cancer I became the primary caregiver and slowly but surely all of my healthy habits, motivation and consistency went out of the window. After she passed away in 2006 I was not able to regain that momentum that I had and I have never been as fit and healthy as I was then. Fast-forward 9 years later, I have never abandoned my desire to get serious about my fitness goals but my mindset was broken and that led me to TOO MANY HALF-ASSED attempts to get fit. Life has a way of either taking you to the point of no return or waking you up and forcing you to make the DECISION to do things anyway, despite all the EXCUSES you can and will come up with for why you CAN’Tdo something. Once I WOKE UP, I decided no more of that mindset. I started praying for clarity and searching for ways to better myself mentally.

I decided that I needed to get back on track because I felt so amazing when I was doing my body good. I had a TON of energy, I looked the way I wanted to in my clothes and I had a positive spirit that radiated off of me and I loved it! Getting in tune with your mind and body can do wonders for your confidence. It gives you the courage and strength to tackle the things that are REALLY important to you and align you with your PURPOSE.

The Ultimate Guide to Living a Balanced, Healthy Lifestyle

What is a Holistic Approach to Life?

The phrase is used in conversation but what exactly does it mean? A holistic approach to life actually starts with mindset and focuses on the importance of these key systems:

      Mind

      Body

      Spirit

I have always been interested in holistic health, but could never fully grasp what it meant. As I grew in my journey, holistic health came into play in my life. I realized that in order to get my life to a place of unconditional peace and happiness I had to heal my mind and body. I also had to nourish my spirit to strengthen my mind. All of these pieces worked together in awesome harmony to create the person I am today. This lifestyle isn’t something that you do one time and forget about it, you must CONTINUOUSLY work at maintaining a positive outlook on life, have positive coping skills and be content where you are. I know for me that has always been a challenge. I LOVE to be in control and even though I know I am NOT, that doesn’t stop the need to have control. Everyday, I work on myself to not only shake the control bug, but to understand WHY I have this need.

Why You Are Not Were You Want To Be And How To Fix It

What Are You Saying To Yourself

How you speak to yourself can make a huge difference between living a balanced, peaceful and healthy life and living life in torment because of what you think and feel about yourself.  I am speaking from experience because years ago I didn’t realize the impact of the words that you speak over your life. We always hear people say not to speak certain things out loud and not to put them into the atmosphere. Often times, people poison their minds doing the same thing. Instead of those words going out into the world, they swirl around in your head creating negative thoughts like self-doubt, procrastination and inactivity. They cause you to become fearful because you feel like you can’t do any better than what you are already doing. Negative thoughts give way to negative feelings of insecurity, lack of trust and low self-confidence just to name a few. Pretty soon, you don’t feel capable of doing anything.

When you don’t trust yourself you can’t make decisions and you will have no idea how to get out of the rut you find yourself in. Your motivation to change is nonexistent and you rationalize all the reasons why you can’t do any better. How do you get out of this black hole? How do you turn your negative thoughts into positive ones that support the changes and healthy habits you want to create in your life? You have to face your fears! You have to be brave enough to first acknowledge that you have them and then commit to doing the work to become FEARLESS!

Why This Time Around Getting Healthy Will Be Different

The #1 Reason Why People Fail at Weight Loss

Do you know the biggest reason why people fail? It’s because they don’t have a detailed plan about where they are going, they don’t know what it takes to get there and they have no idea how to measure the end result. Losing weight is not complicated but requires a strategic plan for success. Especially in the times we are living in now, being super busy, little time to cook and fast food places all over. So let’s walk through what you need to do to be successful!

Choose a Goal Weight

When choosing a goal weight it should be an attainable weight. If you are 200 pounds your initial goal weight should not be 120 pound; it should be a number that you can achieve by losing a healthy amount of weight, usually ¼ pound to 2 pounds per week over the course of a few months. For some people, it will take 2-4 week just adjusting to the decrease in calorie intake and learning how to watch your portions. There are many ways to estimate portions just by using your hands, we will cover that later in the month so stay tuned!
